The DMP experience

I’m sorry. So you decide to ‘put this to rest and move on?’ Just when an e-mail from Barry ‘surfaces’ and is subsequently hidden by moderation?

I do appreciate the trying to make the new transport accessible to DMP owners. Thing is, in my case I’m 6,000 miles away.

This is not a matter of $, or resale value or just being bitter for the sake of it. I love PSA, their products, and the family feel that we get / got. Like I said, to me this a matter of PSA having said something then failed to honor, and then when that comes out the relevant post is hidden. Personally disappointed in you guys as this is not typical PSA behaviour.

Got three PSA products and loved the comradery and support the company / this space has provided us with. But this has been dealt with -and communicated- poorly, and I am out.

Exactly. A secret internal decision to stop working on the DMP code escaped into the wild and now Paul starts laying a smokescreen talking about “pocket updates”. As if those who have been aggrieved might be appeased by that. The faith is lost.

Don’t let the door hit you on the ass, guys.

Was tempted to produce a response referring to your own ass Bad, but at this point everybody knows that PSA owns it.

I love Esoteric, maybe someday I can afford one, looks and build like
a tank. But at this point, I will put up with a few quirks for the price I
paid and the sound quality I get. No need for cover art.

That Esoteric new K-01XD looks delicious.

Oh yeah, they all look delicious, especially the Grandioso models.

Yummy indeed. It seems that Esoteric is using FPGA DAC now.
I would sell my kidney for one of those K-01XD, but unfortunately
I can’t spare one.

Do you any experience with the P-02/D-02?

No, I took no prisoners from the beginning of my Esoteric journey, after the DMP didn’t work out, by going straight for the Grandioso P1. I’m sure the P-02/D-02 combination would be great still to this day, even though they’ve been around for about seven years.

A local guy is selling them dirt cheap. I’m going to try them for a few days.

My DMP is getting more finicky by the day. CDs that once played with no hesitation now don’t want to respond to the play button command. Multiple open and close sequences seem to be the new normal as of late …:-1:

That is sad. try going back to an older load and than reload 3.15 see if it may clear that up for you.

I like Sixpack’s suggestion. Other than maybe a failing drive, I’m not sure why it would get worse over time

I love the DMP, but, a more solid platform, with the same SQ is what we really paid for. I wait with bated breath for the successor, and the path we, the people that bought the DMP new, from a legitimate source, have to obtain, said spinner.

Amen

I won’t be able to afford it no matter how generous a trade-in may be, I’m just not able to spend on audio as I did in the past. But I love my DMP, use it every day, and have no operational issues with mine, thank goodness, as I hope to continue to do so into the future.

If this has been asked an answered I apologize, but I could not find it. My DMP and DS DAC sit about 20 feet from my listening position. I use the two of these to play albums from my 600+ SACD collection. Obviously, from 20 feet and thumbnail size image of the cover art is not what I am interested in, however, sometimes the DMP will display the track number in a large bold figure that can be seen clearly from 20 feet and other times it displays the album title, track number and track title in tiny letters that cannot be seen clearly at 20 feet. The problem is which is displayed (large number or more information in tiny letters) varies with no reason as to which is being shown. Is there anyway to tell the DMP to always display track number?

My DMP used to display the large track number at times, but hasn’t since the latest update. Would be nice to know if there’s a way to select that option.

I believe whether you get large numbers or small text depends on the disc you are playing.
All older discs (20+ years?) will always have large numbers on the DMP.

They added text capability sometime along the way and more recent discs will usually have text on them.

I think most SACDs have text on them since I have never seen one play on my DMP with just large numbers.
