Our local brassierie, Brasserie V, carried this favorite, among others. A combination of circumstances and ultimately COVID-19 resulted in the demise of Brasserie V. Hard to beat their Moules et Frites, a baguette on the side and a generous Delerium Tremens pour.
Tremens is one of my favorites.
Pre COVID I got spoiled, very spoiled as our local brasserie was a reliable source for a good pour, wide selection, and fun food. Alas no more. None like it in the area, less I venture into Chicago, or San Francisco.
This single Malt Scotch “Knockando Master Reserve 21” is just incredible! It is another gift from my brother, and I have never heard of it before.
oh my
Went to Knockando many years ago on one of several walking trips with a college friend who lived in Grantown on Spey. There are a load of distilleries on Speyside, like Aberlour and Glenfiddich. The river is extremely beautiful and one thing we did was spooning, which involves standing in the rocky part of the river at night and hitting salmon over the head with 10 foot long sticks with a spoon on the end. It sounds a bit unfair, but they are quick.
I do like their whiskey, and maybe go visit one day!
Delirium Tremens is a bit strong!
Had a regular Belgian indulgence a few weeks ago: vissoep with croutons, emmentaler geraspt and rouillesaus, the wife has kaaskroketten, followed by Americain and sole meunière. Westmalle is a lovely sweet beer and the wife had a Duvel blond. It doesn’t get any better.
The Cairngorms is a beautiful place to go walking, hiking, eating and drinking. The Fife Arms in Braemar was voted the best hotel in the UK a couple of years ago - it’s fantastic and there are beautiful river walks. Had our holidays up there in 2020 and 2021.
I suppose real whisky lovers go to Islay, which is a long way away plus a ferry.
The Fife Arms looks gorgeous! I’ll bookmark it for potential vacation spots!
I accidentally dropped this whiskey and broke it. I was not drunk but am getting older. This was supposed to be released after the 49ers won the Super Bowl, but it never happened. So, I bought it at a very reasonable price and plan to keep it as a display.
Well, I lost one-half of the whiskey when the bottle broke. It tasted okay.
Picked this up as an incentive. I’m going in for a knee replacement in about a week, and this is my reward for being a good boy during rehab. It stays sealed until I walk a mile without a cane.
Hopefully, you like Smokey. I have a bottle that is about half full, and I love it—saving it for special occasions too.
Oh, indeed I do! Laphroaig, Ardbeg, Lagavulin, etc, etc. Every year the lads at Laphroaig do a special edition Carideas. Can’t always find it, but they are nice.

I heard that the person who was responsible for their special releases is no longer there and that the special releases are not expected to be as good as they have been in the past.
This is an older one I found tucked away at the store. I believe it was the last one released under John Campbell’s (the former distillery manager) supervision.
