My UK dealer doesn’t have an internal Pink fuse in stock for my P20, needs to be ordered from US, which will be 3 - 4 weeks.
Already sold my Master so using a stock fuse, which cost $4 for 10, big difference from SR prices.
What was your feeling when you went back to stock?
I haven’t actually tried it yet.
I just watched recorded stuff on my TV last night.
I’ll try some music tonight and report back.
@Gareth I too have SR products throughout my system. The Black Box is somewhat intriguing to me. A combo platter of a good room and three REL Carbon subs makes for very even bass throughout my room and home. Perhaps like you, I would find out I have problems I don’t yet know about. Once I digest the the two additional SR Tranquility Pod Carbons I just ordered for placement under my amps, I may see about the Black Box. I’ll ask my dealer about trying one…
Just tried an hour of music.
The stock fuse is new, (don’t know what happened the supplied fuse as I never expected to go back to it again). so it’s burning in and only in use around one day.
Bass is a bit overblown and both midrange and treble seem a bit recessed, but it’s a passable sound and will see me through until I receive my Pink.
I’ll probably being playing a lot more theatre stuff than music while waiting for the Pink fuse as I find movies aren’t as demanding of the system as music is.
This just in: The AM M2 sounds better than the M1 in my (your) P20. (That’s definitive)
Glad it’s unanimous! It was better right off the bat, and I wasn’t noticing anything in the way of burn in changes until today (5 days in for me). I walked into the room and thought “hey, that’s better than what I was hearing before!”. So figure about 100 or so hours in. Good luck!
That mirrors my experience in P20. I respect you patiently waited for more reports.
But remember, you could have trusted my advice, since I was also the first to report negatives of SR master in the P20 prior to SR admitting it was not good for regeneration equipment. Glad you’re enjoying.
A fuse question: I am currently using a SR Purple in the Holo Red streamer. The Network Acoustics switch has a standard fuse which I am going to upgrade - intending a SR Master. Would you also go this way or go with a SR Pink for the switch and the SR Master in the streamer?
SR recommend the Master for sources, so I’d use the Master in your streamer and the Pink in your switch.
After there’re burnt in you could always swop them over and try them to see what you think?
After successfully replacing the Audio Magic M1 fuse in the P20 that powers all my devices (except the amplifiers), I ordered 2 M2 for my amplifiers. They will replace 2 Synergistic Violet fuses.
I will be in “full” Audio Magic, all the devices connected to the P20 have M1 fuses.
@andynotadam - definitely should try but just don’t assume its all about the bass - the benefit with my room was actually in the mids - my 2 rels work well in the room the integration and overall improvements resulted in cleaner mids …
The AM M-2 fuse is something else! I inserted the 2nd M-2 fuse to replace Purple fuse in BHK pre, and it is clearly doing something better. This is without any break-in, plus my system was turned on for only one day after two weeks of hibernation.
Your hiatus might have had a influence on what your hearing too…
I know I’m a buzz kill!
One day is plenty.
I am still under jet leg and also carried a few extra pounds, but the system is just sounding better and better! I have no more SR Purple fuses in the system has to be the reason.
Be grateful and forget about tweaks for a while.
I’ll agree there–my only fuses are now two M1, and three Swiss Digital Fuse Boxes. No Purple helped.
Who, Donald? I-m-p-o-s-s-i-b-l-e-!!!
It is possible only because my fund is depleted from three long vacations in four months. I need a break to get to know my “new” system a little better before introducing anything new! I think I have a few items that are still doing break in.
