Audio Magic M2 vs SR Pink fuse, Owners thoughts and observations here please

By far the best aspect of Axpona for me is spending time with The Fellas. You should make the trip, Luca. You’ll love it!

Indeed. Except a certain pair wireless earphones.

Weedee is into the music! I got the best suggestions for jazz from him!

Equipment? Not so much, I got Luca and Al for that and that is enough to keep me busy🙄

I am sad.

What?? Cheer up, buddy. It’s spring. The flowers are chirping, the birds are blooming…

I am sad I led Weedeewop to buy headphones he doesn’t like. I love them.

Oh–didn’t know. I get that.
But you led with the best intentions.
btw–I don’t even remember where my headphones are. Abyss something or other. Tethered to a 20 foot cable—no thank you.

Better than the Technics I was considering, and fine for work outs. A back-up pair to boot.

I’m not much of a tweaker, nor a follower.

Nothing wrong with that because that is the goal! I have a few more tweaks/upgrades left to become a music lover again, hopefully

After waiting one month I finally received my UK P20 internal fuse, (5A, 250V, Timed) today.
Now the burn in starts, 8 days should give the requisite 200 hours, although I assume I should be hearing how it’s going after about 50 hours, or in other words, at the end of this coming weekend.

Now that it’s been a while, have to go with the M-2 over Pink. The Pink fuse is great, but there’s something to the M-2, with the lower noise, better depth, it’s almost holographic. Hard to describe, but there’s a better flow to the music.

I replaced Master fuse with M-2 fuse in DS Mk2 a few weeks ago, and I was surprised how much I like M-2 more. It cleaned up the last bit of murkiness and gave a darker background at the same time.

The Master went into the streamer, and I liked it there better than in MK2.

I replaced M1’s with M2’s in the cd player, streamer and regenerator. It’s been about 150 hours.
A bit quieter and resolving than the M1’s.
Me thinks you like the more “forward, exciting” SR Master in the streamer for the very reason I find Quobuz streaming veiled as compared to cd’s. This is just an observation. You are more adept at trying things to achieve synergy. I try to get components or accessories that I think are without character and simply try to get out of the way. The MU2 and the Stealth Sakra V17 do this for me.
Involvement rather than excitement.

MU2 is my next upgrade, but Sakra17? Well, it’s on my list down the road; a long winding road😕

There you go.

The general consensus from the contributors in this thread seem to indicate that the M2 fuse is ‘better’ than the Pink fuse. Both fuses are great but the M2 edges it.

It’s left me with a bit of a dilemma, I’ve just received my Pink fuse and it’s burning in.

In the UK, where I’m based, each component has a fuse in the mains plug that powers the equipment so I have Pink fuses in most of my kit.It seemed sensible to me to go for the Pink for my P20 to keep the same fuse ’ loom’ throughout the system.

Could one of our American contributors explain what the setup is over there with regards to how equipment is protected via fuses please as I’m uncertain about it?

I’m basically wondering should I get a M2 fuse for the P20 to try it?

@sheridd2, I wouldn’t jump to quickly to assume the M2 is universally better than the Pink. Too many other variables in everyone’s different systems. If you give it a couple of hundred hours, and ultimately like what you’re hearing, then IMO don’t worry about it.

In the U.S. there are no line (mains plug) fuses like there are in the UK. Each power cord to a device goes from a home electrical outlet to the device, with no fuses in that path. The only fuse (when there is one) is within each device (like a P20). Each electrical circuit in a home is protected by a circuit breaker. Depending on the size of the home there can be up to some dozens of circuit breakers. These are typically centralized in a panel which is fed from the incoming mains to the home.

Is there any reason why circuit breakers aren’t designed in audio equipment instead of fuses? My Shunyata Denali v6000 has a circuit breaker instead of a fuse like my P15.

Thanks Tony, I presumed that was the case, just good to have it confirmed.
