There used to be reports on Purple (and earlier generation) blowing more easily. However, I have not heard of the issue with newer fuses such as M-1 and M-2. I had a 6A fuse in P15 (5A required), and it ran great.
Thanks again, I have a class AB 100 watt amplifier. It uses a lot of power at startup for about a second, which is why Iām concerned about the fuse blowing since this has happened with some other fuses in my regenerator.
Do you order from the Cable Company?
Yes, they offer frequent discounts.
I used to have the same problem with occasionally blowing the mains fuse on my CJ CA200 integrated because of the initial inrush when switching from standby to on.
It may be a step down (or not) in āqualityā but HFi-Tuning makes an extra slow blow type fuse for their Supreme3 model which is specifically designed to remedy this problem. This allows you to get the specific rating for the fuse needed and not play the how much can I go over the recommended rating before I melt the piece of equipment game.
I purchased mine from Kemp Elektroniks in The Netherlands although they may be more locally available, too. Thereās the added benefit in that they donāt cost and arm and a leg compared to some other brands.
Thanks, joe. Looks like those are the XT Supreme3 fuses.
Yes, those are the ones. Iāve never bought fuses from Synergistic Research, Audio Magic, etc. so I donāt know how the HiFi-Tuning stack up against them so I canāt speak to that but I do think they are a very noticeable improvement over stock fuses. And they are directional.
Hifituning now also offers to equip their fuses with a small diamond. The extra cost is limited, and the fuse still costs much less than an AM or SR fuse. In terms of sound, the diamond is supposed to provide a more precise image, better tones and a quieter background. I havenāt tried these yet. I had the normal Hifituning Supreme silver-gold fuses. In terms of sound, these are better than standard fuses. How and whether an AM or SR fuse is better also depends on personal taste.
