Another to look at. I heard rave reviews from owners as well as the ones from the usual suspects. I believe Bascom was part of the design team for this series of gear.
That’s the idea. No more fiddling. Just listening.
Day 6
Work in progress on the front wall, plenty of room for diffusers, 2k LPs and 1k CDs
and 3 dedicated outlets for amplification (fed by P15) and subs
It seems I’m able to see a light at the end of this tunnel.
All custom made by an incredibly patient carpenter who is able to turn my ideas in something real.
You are heavily diffused for sure. Oh, I mean your room.
Starting to come together. Looks cool!
science fiction movie set, the next Star Wars, a four-dimensional computer in the center?
Like a giant hologram of a master fuse projected in a starring night, symbol of an obvious audiophile pathology?
Having music withdrawlas are you? …seeing things? time to let it go …get out for a walk in the park
get some fresh air…some italian ice…with some friends even…
Best wishes
I’m breathing gear, eating gear, dreaming gear! Hopelessly hopeless…
Ay yai yai…you need a break away…
Best wishes
Room looks great Luca, what are the dimensions? I’ve got 48 hours of run time on the Pink Faun cables and they already have taken my system to another level. I would think other more expensive cables may change the tone somewhat but better I’m not sure about. USB cables definitely make a difference.
Thanks, the room is 18.6x12.9x8.2.
As for PF cable, glad you are enjoying it. I think that its best quality is in that sort of analog feeling you hear with it: the sound is warm and dynamic, even if in mid frequencies you can hear the beauty of more textured musicality that are IMO so engaging. Spaciousness and depth make the image more lively and palpable, maybe less detailed and edged. If you love more bright and analytical sound, this cable is not preferable.
Day 8-9
Still waiting to work on the rear wall. LPs and CDs will be back soon. Meanwhile I finally switched back on the system…
MUSIC, how I was missing it, what a wonderful moment!
Wow! this looks like one of the movie scenses from Guillermo del Toro.
Congratulations!
Congratulations Luca!
How does it sound?
Thanks! Incredibly open, it seems totally another room with an increased spaciousness, really impressed.
Too early to have critical listenings but my first impressions are:
- soundstage, never heard so expanded in hight and so on focus
- openness, it seems almost 3 times the dimensionality I was familiar with
- bass, bye bye reverberations and boomy effects (and the room is still naked!!)
- realism, voices in the center especially are vivid (I know I know it seems banal)
- symmetry, FINALLY! I’m so happy to have solved that particular issue.
Am I liking what I’m hearing? Oh yes, amazing! But I need to tune the sound, tonally there are a lot of things to fix, warmth is not at the level I usually love and high frequencies seem a little bit edged and most of all I need a more silent background.
All the electrical circuit is brand new, wires panel outlets and ground rod included, XLR cables are brand new, the P15 is at its first hours out of the box. More and more time is needed to let all the system settle before getting an idea of the final result.
I’m wondering why I didn’t rebuilt the room before: during last 2 years I spent a lot of money in components, cables and tweaks… believe me: the larger amount of changes you can bring to your audiophile experience comes from THE ROOM, so far!
Let’s have fun, today LPs and CDs will be back on the shelves and I’m expecting this will play a fundamental role also for acoustic signature.
Let the fun start !
