New SR Master fuse review vs AM M1 and Purple to follow

No regenerator that is a future purchase, I have the BHK 300 amps and BHK Pre and MK2 dac.
My other big purchase this past month was a Marantz AV10 preprocessor, that is a monster prepro for home theater…

Just thinking replace 1 fuse at a time with your new SR Masters…
each has it’s specific orientation…

Install one, then listen…it should have more presence, air detail with a much larger
soundstage…if it isn’tmquite like this then reverse the orientation of the fuse and listen
again to the same track…

Once you have this dialed in the go on to th next component…

Longing to read of your findings …have a lot of fun…

Aramis, Porthos and Athos arrived:

Unfortunately the room in Buckingham is under refurbishment actually.

Buckingham Palace is it? Now we know where to find you

So it is a long wait while your music room is being completed…
When the long awaited day arrives…Listen to your new room get
acquainted with it’s sound signature…then 1 fuse at a time only!!!
Okay…Yes…get the orientation of the fuse right (trial) get the
sound signature…note the improvements if any…before going on
to the next fuse…

Try to avoid what some have done is to have multiple new upgrades
and then can’t say one way or another if the fuses helped or not…

Easy for me to say ( guilty as charged ) it is the only way to know how
the fuse is interacting with your system as a whole…

Sail on luca…looking good!!

Thanks David, patience discipline and self control! Not always the qualities of audiophile addicted but I’ll do my best.
Take into account that my new room configuration is already going to add to the sauce a new P15 (for amplification only) brand new longer Iconoclast XLR cables (27’ - due to the increased distance between pre and amps) brand new shorter Dragon Sources power cords (due to reduced distance between pre and TT LPS and SPP). There are in a drawer, ready to be added, 3 fuses and a new Pink Faun ethernet cable I was waiting to test since 2 months. Not to mention that (really incredible) I’m still using a very early beta MK II DAC, I have to replace all at once (!!) as soon as PS Audio will ship the first new batch to the Italian importer, as we decided late in December ‘22.
Brand new main circuit with dedicated lines and outlets, and a brand new dedicated ground rod? I’m expect these matter too.
No other tweaks or toys will be introduced until I’m able to become more familiar with the new scenario, it means almost a few minutes!!!

Guess what? I’m literally frying! And missing so much the music after 7 day of abstinence. Promised, David: I’ll do my best!

As usual thank you for your kindness.

You have 20 reviews due in the next four months, and I hope you will not get confused as of which makes what difference?

Even though it is easier said than done…(myself included as guilty…Long story that one
but not fuse related…just new power plant, power cables ic xlrs and speaker cables )
you would think I could learn? :innocent: :grinning:

Very hard to do, however you have my appreciation.,and don’t forget we are longing
to read your reports on this thread and on your center channel image thread…

I put in the Gustard fuse into PST a few hours ago, and I was impressed! It sounds warmer than Purple but is not as warm as M-1. The sound is a bit edgy at the early stage of break in, but I like how neutral and balance it sounds already. The bass and the soundstage has not developed yet but I expect they will improve later.

Only with a few hours in the system, I already have high expection of this fuse. No, it is not as impressive as the Master, but it sounds better than Purple and M-1 at the begining as I remembered. I will find out how good it is in a couple weeks. The fuse will stay in the system for a couple of weeks before I put back the Purple to compare.

I’m glad you like it, and I hope for the price of the Gustard, you’ll like it even more. I find the same thing with the Gustard in my P15. Please let me know if the edginess goes away with further burn it, and if the imagining improves, I found it slighly lacking focus when brand new.

I think because of this edginess, it filled the whole sound stage with too much that electrifying air in my system, but I didn’t had the patience for it to settle down with all other things that’s going on with my system tweaks.

Sounds like more fun awaits me when I’m satisfied with all my cable tweaks.

I also find the fuse to be very directional. There is a diode symbol on the fuse, I just followed the diode symbol and pointed inward towards my P15, the other way around just sounded off to me.

That’s what I did too. It’s good to know your confirmation.

Does that mean the diode on the fuse is pointed from the back of the P15 towards the front?

I just follow the current, many on this fourm had said the current is from the fuse cap towards the unit, so I put the diode symbol along with that direction, not against it.

So yes, the tip of the diode triangle is pointed towards the unit.

I thought the consensus was the current flowed from the P20 to the fuse cap holder?
That’s the way I have my Master fuse orientated with the S farthest away from the fuse cap holder.
It sounded better to me that way.
Reversed the sound was very ‘polite’ and clean.
With the S away from the cap holder the sound was much more dynamic and that’s the way I kept it.

Hey sherrid2…

It seems from your findings that this maybe another case of a labeling inconsistency…
