I have an M1 in my P20 and two of them in my Ethos. That is enough for me.
I have purple fuses in my amp, preamp, DSD, PST, Auralic Aries G2.1 streamer and Keces P3 power supply for dac. I am getting nice sound. I got my purple fuses for $125 each. I could not afford $600 fuses any more than I can $10,000 power cables. I am happy with my sound and although I can upgrade anything in my system if I had the funds, I find myself doing quite well within my availability over the years. My most recent move was having Jkrichards fully mod my DSD up to date. I even had a pure silver 20 awg Neotech DC cable custom made for between my DSD and Keces P3 power supply. I found the 6 purple fuses make for a nice improvement but I don’t have the availability to get the new $600 fuses.
Mitchb105 … If you have a full loom of SR Orange or Purple fuses then SR recommend only one or two Master fuses so you don’t need to replace all of them.
Not sure which one of our two posters who own the Master fuse only has AM-M1 fuses in his system and he’s really happy with the Master fuse.
Hey luca…
If you can wait while a day or two more…I have an M1 for my Parasound JC5…
that I can use instead of the SR Purple that I’m using now in my JC5…will compare
between the two while keeping the new SR Master in the P15…
Hope you can wait just a bit more …
Waymanchen has done us a great favor and an excellent job of testing for us!!
Best wishes
Ok guys…at just over 144 hours burn time on the SR Master
What waymancen has said about the SR Master is my same
experience…
So comparing the SR Purple, AM M1 and even the HiFi Tuning Supreme3
1st place Excelllence is the SR Master with outstanding extensions in all frequencies
bass tight well defined yet with good body, the mids are clearly better defined
with body, the highs oh my …the attack (appearance initial onset) decay
as a vapor long lasting. Waymanchen nailed it it in his description
2nd place Hard to place either AM M1 or Sr Purple here as both do very very well in these
categories just different characterizations of music…none detrimental.
While switching back and forth between the SR Purple and the AM M1 fuses
it seemed that the SR Purple might have slightly better snap with bone
and in some cases it seemed the AM M1 would be better…
3rd place The HiFi Tuning Supreme3 has a wonderful warm golden yet detailed
with extension…very pleasing easy to enjoy sound…but not in the same
level of character as the AM M1, SR Purple let alone the new SR Master fuse.
So it comes down to preferences and how much more would you like to spend on
your system to enjoy re-discovering your music is highly personal to each one.
So this next section is for you luca…
Keeping the SR Master in my P15 and switching out the SR Purple for the AM M1
fuse what I hear are richer overtones but with good definition of strings…with extension
and air the 2 fuses are different in what they present. The SR Purple gives you more
bone individual piano string vibrations, textures with some body with very good extensions
while the AM M1 gives a fuller warmer quality with piano string vibration textures…
hf extension can go either way between the two…
I think you have the Sonus Faber (I forget the model type) perhaps with your
Sonus Faber the Sr Purples in your amp or front ends couple with the new SR
Master in your P15 might just be the ticket…(my .00002) as from my understanding
the Sonus Faber are a warm and romantic sound quality.
Hope this helps you luca and everyone as well
Best wishes to all
David, I applaud you for going through the trouble to give us a run down on how these fuses interact. I use M1’s in my other two devices that uses fuses, so the SR Master is mix with only the M1 fuse. I did not like the Purple in my DAC because it was a little overbearing at times with certain music, and that was with the M1 in the P20. In my system, the Purple did not work with the M1, then I wouldn’t think it would work with the even more open sounding SR Master. These fuses really are system depended. But this SR Master is by far he most startling improvement I heard from any fuse I used before.
Thank you so much waymanchen for the compliment…
In complete agreement with you on the fuses…
To help luca get an idea swapped the SR Purple out and installed
the AM M1 into my JC5 amp…amazingly I’m finding out that the
AM M1 does at the moment present a more desireable soundstage
more romantic with the bite, air and extensions I so much like…so
thanks to luca …me thinks the AM M1 will remain resident in my JC5
power amp with the new SR Master in my P15…this combo seems to sit
better.
Waymanchen you are the best tweakingist person I’ve encountered…
I wish I could follow in all of your mods applied to my gear…but as of now
physical limitations prevent me…otherwise would be a blast…
For me the the SR Master fuse seems to have lifted my humble Focal Aria 948s
to a beryllium tweeter equipped speaker say a Kanta 3 perhaps a Sopra…the lightness
quickness airiness seems such…
So the SR Master fuse gets a strong recommendation for the power regenerator
position…
Keep chatting guys
Best wishes
You know what…? As I think about it you are right having experienced some of
that myself but attributing the fault to the recording.
Best wishes
Thank you so much!
Food for thoughts. I’m really paying attention to your next comments before arriving to a definitive decision (until my room will be ready at the end of March).
To be honest I’m incline to go for a new M-1 in my P15 (that requires a 3AH version, not available on the SR catalogue) and for a SR-M in my MK II.
PS: my speakers are Olympica Nova III
Yes luca you are so right …there is so much to consider…it is like a musician
choosing which violin, cello, viola, piano brand to purchase given the subtle
beauty each one brings and the differences…
Perhaps harder waiting until your new room is ready…luca what will it be like
can you share a little about it with us?
Best wishes
SR does have it with a 3.15A rating which should be fine for your regenerator. I believe a SR Master in the regenerator will have more impact on the sound since all your equipment is plugged into it.
In my new scenario once the room will be remodeled, I’m going to introduce in my system a new P15 just to feed the amps (M1200s) while the already existing P20 will feed all the sources.
The P20 already has the M-1 fuse on board, while the other components have a mix of Purple (PST+PhoenixNET) and M-1 (SPP+BHK Pre). I’m liking the results brought by the actual configuration and my purpose is primarily to change first the stock fuses in all those components I recently added (EU versions need, as always, different fuses due to different AH ratings required so I have to buy brand new fuses, again):
- P15 - 3AH (with an M-1)
- MK II - 0,5AH (with a SR-M)
- Statement - 3.15AH (with a Purple)
Why the new SR-M in MK II? Because I’m tempted to invest the pricer fuse for a component that is so sensitive to little tweaks.
I have enough time to reconsider this decision based on the comments a few members like you and David are reporting on this forum about the SR-M, still a new animal to be better known.
Thank you for sharing your precious thoughts, able to drive others like me in one or another direction on this crazy fuse highway!
Already had discussions a few years ago on this argument, at the time related to P12 regen that required a 3AH rating from specs too.
- PS staff wrote to me “We highly recommend to use only fuses with ratings shown on the back panel”
- Ted Denney wrote to me “I can only suggest to follow specs of your component, ask PS Audio”
- Members of the forum were more oriented to suggest me “don’t worry, go for 3.15A rating’
One of the reasons I prefer testing the M-1 in my P15 comes from this, and I have to admit from a higher curiosity, as stated above, to test the SR-M in my MK II. Let me add: my MK II actually is a beta unit I’m going to have replaced with a new reworked one, so I will soon (?) have the opportunity to restart from the beginning the burning in process for the second time. It means more things to test ahead and absolutely not an annoying time wasted if you are, like I am, a passionate lover of this hobby!
SR recommends trying a SR Master on a DAC or regenerator, so a DAC is also a great place to put the Master. The MK2 is very responsive to tweaks because of its incredibly high resolution. The M1 fuse and Galileo power cord that I put into the MK2 made a tremendous difference in the sound of this Fabulous DAC. I am still in awe of its performance every time I put on some music. And now with the SR Master in the P20, I honest to god am hearing micro detail in recordings I have not heard come out before with such realism, like the snap of the strings and how it resonates off the body of the instrument and have such live sounding transients and air. The realism is quite awe inspiring with the enhancement from this fuse. And how the stick strikes the drum. I can hear the tightness of the skin and it’s resonance and air, and the way it expands into the room with such power that with this fuse is clearer and even more live than ever before. All this makes the music so much more engaging. Yes, this one fuse can and do make this much of a difference, at least in my system, it does. If you have a great sounding system, this Master can enhance it even further than you would think possible. No question asked 30 day free trial on this fuse from SR, you can’t beat that.
Thank you waymanchen for expressing your experience …the way you have described
the effects of the SR Master fuse is exactly and precisely what is happening in my system;
and my system is nowhere near the level of sophistication as yours.
How you described the sound stage and nuanced micro detail is better than my
efforts at trying to do so and so accurately match my findings…
It has been my thinking that is the little power gateway meltwire protective fuse through
which all the current must go through to power up our gear…then what would happen if
that little gate keeping itty bitty wire could be upgraded with better current flow
characteristics…?
The above is the answer …
Thanks waymanchen for your continued dialogue…keep the press rolling.
Best wishes friend
luca please share about your new room itself…like the shape, dimensions,
furnishings, treatments in general…
Thank you muchly
Best wishes
I think that potential is what makes the “Swiss Fuse Box” such an interesting proposition. Time will tell…
No thread jacking intended/back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Best wishes with that piece of gear…looking forward to your report!!
You can follow my steps on this thread, from post #120
Thanks luca…
Happy re-designing your listening room!!!
