Purple fuse upgrade

If you are using the PST on 120vac the correct fuse value is 1.6 amps. Even a 2 amp fuse is over rated and could result in transformer failure. 6.3 it is totally outrageous. You might as well eliminate the fuse completely!

I got everyone’s point. It will not stay in there later today! Thanks!

So today I got on my knees before my beloved P15 and
presented her with a beautiful ring box containing some
black diamonds…she said ā€œYesā€ …now let my entourage
sing and play music for you!! Was her reply!!!

So now her entourage has been singing making melody
on a more refined plane,

Now of course the ā€œblack diamondsā€ is the term Audio Magic
employs to describe the innards of its new M1 fuse.

So comparing my new M1 to a burned in purple…is as
waymanchen and others have described…
To my ears though…the M1 yields better body more fullness
with a liquid quality while at the same time yielding the the beautiful highs, mids and bass. All this with but perhaps and hour or two play time…

My JC5 and Wyred4Sound Stage 2 pre still sporting the Purple
fuses.

So as of right now I am pleased as punch with the M1…as $$$
time allows my remaining gear will more than likely be treated to
M1s…

Thanks waymanchen for your very detailed review step by step.
It is as you described it would be…and will only get better if you
could imagine that…

Best wishes everyone

The body lessens to a more liquid smooth musical flow after about 3 or 4 days. Presentation is balanced PRaT. Defined but never harsh. I am surprised you bought in so early. But welcome aboard Sooner is better but later will never be too late with this fuse.

@Vmax is this the right direction?
Sorry I’m bit slow when it comes to mods. I don’t understand what M facing back means :frowning:

Excellent picture though!

I could be wrong as I have more frequently been this past week. I may need an adult to watch over me I guess.

Oh and someone did mention it us AC current so it really doesn’t matter but evidence suggests otherwise

OK then waiting on @Vmax @davida to comment

I have tried it both ways and it really doesn’t matter too much, but I did find the V of the letter M pointing toward the front of the P20 like Vmax indicated does sound a little better.

Flipped it is correct from the picture, the M is wearing a hat.

I like it flipped opposite of your photo. The end which is drilled, soldered, and rough ground flat in external fuse holder. It seemed it would have best max contact with silver solder riding the fuse holder conductive ring.

So two opinions. Each opposite.

I tried both. @Vmax direction sounds more smooth to me and other way (my original photo) is bit more edgy.

@aangen u were right and hence you no more need adult supervision

I think the DAC would be most important after regenerator.

Sigh, okay. Where’s the best place (in the U.S) to buy the M1?

Thank you. I’ll try it when the MK II will be here, at the moment I do not can/want open my DAC Sr. I’m too lazy and without experience to manage this kind of things.

I recommend The Cable Company. This is part of their ā€œFrequent Flyer Programā€ (which over the years has led me to up to 12% discount) which helps–they also are a great company to deal with (in my experience).

Thanks. Yeah, I’ve bought a bunch of stuff from them in the best.

If you change your mind. It’s 4 screws on the bottom and suction cup glass lifter for the lid. Takes about 5-10 minutes.
