Synergistic Research Purple fuse price drop

BTW I am not a fan of the wood tops on any of PS audio equipment. The metal underlayment underneath sings versus the wood inserts and air sound pressure excitation of electronics inside instead of isolation it induces vibrations that cause microphony.

Oh, I need to clarify. All my previous comments are all about the footers under the power cord plugs. I use IsoAcoustic footers under equipment. nothing else.

I am wondering if we should try without anything to make the case sing more?

They are certainly helping! The question is how many to use and where are the best locations to achieve a great balance. You found it on the DS, but with MK2 it is a different game.

I am talking under the DS chassis not cables take out footers perhaps introduce microphony to mids.

I am grasping here.

Am I right you mean MK2 with its original footers on shelf?

The soundstage sounding smaller makes no sense to me at all. As Even though it was very wide and deep with the mk1 it is wider, deeper and taller with the mk2 not doing any tweaking at all. Maybe the tweaking is where the issue arises.

Yes it may make midrange better but everything else worse. Or it all worse. The feer are different than DS.

The sound stage goes wide and deep with support of P20 cable at wall with adjustable bed frame support and sorbothane. He is right.

I don’t mean it’s smaller than DS, and I mean it sounds smaller than without support. It could be due to a more pronounced mid too.

Sorry to turn this Purple price thread into a tweaking thread, but fuse is tweak too.

I have these ball bearing supports from eBay awhile back. I put them under various components before and they made the SQ bright. IsoAcoustic footers sounded much better. Today I added the sorbothane ring under each and put four under PST. OMG, everything sounds magic, it is like an MK2 upgrade on top of MK2 upgrade.

Might be worth a shot to try additional absorption under special footers. @Vmax, my feet are Voodoo Iso Pods,
four of them, under P20, BHK pre, 600’s, PST and MKll. Did this so long ago I don’t know if they did something other than increase my street cred. Since these are a multiple hardened bearing/race design, I don’t think additional absorption underneath would help.

I use these VooDoo Cable IsoPods as well. I’ve tried other footers, but these are the ones that I have kept. Straighwire, try just three under the BHK, PST and MkII. I find three works best under the source components, and four under amps and regenerator.

I did have three Pods under the source components and went to four. Did not notice a difference. However, the component chassis are not exactly level and had to shim a couple of the Pods. Using three might be better as you suggest, unlike the manufacture that claims it is marginally better if level. My audio purchase philosophy is always spend as much as you can and that will make you happy.

I figured out the mkii issue with the missing vocal emotion. It is because Teds capability to silence unused inputs is not working in PSA user interface. Thus one needs to ull out the shorting plugs for unused i2s and usb inputs. All the DS magic and more returns.

On the Purple fuse - I put one in my Pass Labs integrated two weeks ago and despite a great deal of use the sound I’m getting is variable. How long before it settles down? It’s my first Purple, I’m usually a QSA guy.

At least 2 weeks continuous play.

Sheesh!

Cool. I hear a clear “firmer” sound with just three on the non-amplifier components. It gets too “airy” for me with four. I have another layer of isolation as well which may be a factor: the components are on the IsoPods, the IsoPods are on the PS Audio PowerBases.
