Synergistic Research Purple fuse price drop

I used three ISO-Puck 76 big ones. I remember I liked them better than Orea. But now I think they may have dampened the sound too much that I didn’t notice before.

Have you compared them with ISO-acoustics pods? The Cable Co. have specials on VooDoo that I’m thinking to get (now I know how much difference they make). Thanks ahead!

I have tried the Orea footers. I prefer the IsoPods, ended up selling the Oreas. The Oreas were good, these are just more neutral and natural sounding in my system and use. It’s too bad because the Oreas look especially nice under my preamp.

PS: that special on the IsoPods has been going on for a few years.

Good to know! I’ll see how much frequent discounts I could get from Cable Co. thanks again!

Hey michael…

My own experience with SR fuses in my system is that they take a quite
a bit longer than 2 weeks particularly the purple…this one will require
much forbearance with much patience…needs a lot of “cooking time”

During that time there will be a lot of wandering of sound quality from
wow outstanding to flat out yuck unbearable…but hang in there over time
wild swings will diminish and degree of swings will also lessen…
Like a country mountain road with many switchbacks until you arrive at
the desired destination of a great sonic landscape and quality…

Hope that helps…btw if you haven’t leave your Pass integrated on 24/7 just
idling will help the process along…

Best wishes in your audio journey

I’ll try it with three Pods. They are on granite shelves which are in turn on wooden brackets with Sorbothane
dots in between. Should work.

It’s been a couple weeks with the Purple in the MKII but not with constant burn-in. I will try to ride this out and hope this is the reason I am in a Jekyll and Hide ride right now.

The Isopods don’t make sense to me. The balls move in response to vibration, dissipating the vibration by converting to heat. Ok but do we want the balls and half of the footer to move? Do we want the component to move at all? Don’t we want the vibration to be absorbed, keeping the component as vibration free as possible?
But I’ve tried a lot of footers and platforms including Oreas and nothing works nearly as well as the Isopods in my opinion. Isopods by a long way.

I figured you mean you like VooDoo IsoPods even though they do not make sense to you, right? That happens all the time in this world :joy:

Apparently, The Cable Company has these to try out. I should try to compare them to my Sorbothane ring on top of no-name ball bearing support. I mean, mine is so much better than Iso-puck 76 that I doubt they can be beat by anything out there. I want to be surprised.

I don’t get it/them either, but I like them…for now.

The ball bearings make more sense than metal roller racks that can only kill vibration in a forward back direction and up and down. Whereas a ball bearing can roll any direction of sound wave impingement to dampen the sound wave energy.

I had the Purple fuse in the P20 for over 4 weeks and didn’t like it. The stock fuse sounded better. I even reversed direction which didn’t make it better just different. ( it sounded to bright in my system)

I felt the same with this fuse in P15, and moved it to another device clsoe to a full year! I recently returned it to the P15, and got a nice surprise! Of note, the direction of fuses in my gear goes front to back, which feels counter-intuitive, but sounds great for me!

Actually the power source is toward the front of the unit. The cap is the equipment side.

Exactly, but I found that out a tad late

What size/value fuses doe the DS 2 take? and dare I ask about directionality…I love the SR Purple in my PST…

Same as DS, small 5x20, slow, and 1A fuse for US model.

According to Ted Denney’s Facebook account (a sometimes scary place), there is a coming “Master Fuse” which can be “sprinkled” one or two into a system with Purple and/or Orange Fuses or a combination of the two.

Full disclosure, I have Purple Fuses in all of my main components and a full loom of Synergistic cables and grounding products.

Flame on!!!
