New SR Master fuse review vs AM M1 and Purple to follow

I already put mine into beneficial use for one more cable, and I just need one more refund, but I don’t think I will get another.

Technicolor great descriptor…but need to add cinemascope, cinerama and IMAX
for verticality…to for the complete acoustical landscape picture…

How about that…the pro reviewers aren’t the only ones that can think up new
descriptors… :grinning:

Best wishes

This year, for the first time, I’m getting a refund. I will use it to offset the cost of a tank of gas. And if there’s some left over, mayhaps a dozen eggs.

Time for an update on the new SR Master fuse…

Revisiting Live at the Pawnshop cd

Having heard Live at the Pawnshop cd with the various fuse types
as they came along…but now with the new SR Master in my P15
and AM M1 in my Parasound JC5 power amp…

The atmosphere of the Pawnshop is much more palpable, the people
chatting in the background…the verbal cues from the bandleader
so much more presence…

The Vibraphone’s sound was on a whole new level of distinct but subtle
tones with each mallet impact showing off a new level of warmth bloom
blossom as well as the snappy strikes…

Have heard this track Limehouse Blues many times …but never before
with thiese new found qualities that were there all along. This was evidenced
in all the tracks of this album that I sat down to hear.

The percussion solos were on a whole new level as well as the wind instruments…

My description falls way short of what I was actually hearing…wow is all can say…
it is that good!!!

Best wishes everyone!!

Talking to The Cable Co, I found out I have a bunch of credit that can be used for the next purchase including the Master fuse. That makes this a sweet deal. But John is out today, and he will reconfirm if this is indeed the case. :crossed_fingers:

P15 or MK II? Or both of them?

I am thinking of putting it in P15, MK2, or both? Gee, you asked a hard question. I think one should be fine. Even SR says just need one to pair with their Purple in other gears. Maybe two are too much, I do not know.

I just figured it out. The M-1 fuse in P15 is a 6.3A, and it should be a 5A. So, to protect all my gear I should order one 5A Master fuse. That’s it.

Whoever wants a 6.3A M-1 let me know.

Good decision! I’ll go for the MK II as soon as I finish the room, stay tuned.

So another cd Dave Gruisin’s Cinemagic…presents Dave Gruisin’s
numerous motion picture theme songs

With the SR Master in my P15 and AM M1 in my JC5 power amp…
Cinemagic which had been at best polite yet beautiful music…
Now came alive never heard it like this before…beautiful soundscape,
dynamics …

So it must seem that while the SR Master fuse was superb out of the box,
Music now seems to be at a whole other new level…

For me then the $595.00 US is well worth the tuition for this college credit!!

The result seems as if I had gone uptown and bought major upgrades to my
system all the way around…

Me thinks even Al’s bunny wabbits might like this as well…

Donald can’t wait for you to get your new SR Master…great listening awaits you!!

Best wishes everyone…

I have had a Master Fuse in my Mk2 DAC since last Friday. Quite frankly, it was pretty stunning right out of the box.

Four days and a slight speaker positioning tweak for the better, I have ordered a second one for my Nordost QB8 power distributor which should arrive here by Thursday or maybe a day earlier.

Overall, I can only echo @davida’s findings.

From my notes:

With the Master Fuse (replacing a Purple), the presentation is more natural, effortless, and coherent, with a huge(er) soundstage displaying impressive depth, despite the practical limitations on how far I can move my Fyne F703’s away from the front wall.

Voices in particular are extremely intimate sounding. In this regard, I have to imagine that what I am hearing is much closer to the sound of the mic feed.

The noise floor seems nonexistent, with clear venue clues and with instrumental decays seemingly going on forever.

Bass frequencies are profound–extended while exhibiting excellent speed and slam.

So, overall, I’d say the results are quite musical and toe-tappingly good, though I can’t say that I hold a precise definition of what the term musical might actually mean.

Expensive for a fuse? Most definitely. Worth it in a system that at retail is high five figures?

Most definitely…

Hey Andy…

Yes indeedy…absolutey!!

While my system is probably lower mid 5 figures…the sound quality sound stage
correlates strongly with your description…

Could not have expressed your findings any better…well described…

Spent yesterday afternoon into the evening listening …it is as if a whole new
updated version of my music was playing… each album, each track loaded with
nuanced details some delicate faint others strong alive vibrant…sound stage
improving over an already great sounding one…

As you mentioned Andy…how can it be possible for all that to fit into the listening
space…?

With the success of the SR Master fuse in my P15 am considering one for my DS dac.
Upgrading to new DS MkII for now not doable…had to replace home ac unit and then
my car’s ac…ate too deeply into my larder…

So for now am very very thankful to have my system playing at the level that it is,

Andy best wishes in your audio journey…

The music sounded nice but a bit unfamiliar last night, and I wonder if the new USB cable was still through break in. No! I was listening to the stock fuse in P15. The M-1 is traveling to Al’s house for his eighth system.

Frankly, I was shocked that I enjoyed the stock fuse as much as the M-1. Maybe Al is right that he doesn’t hear much difference in his stellar system but wants mine anyway.

I put in an order for the Master fuse, and it better be worth it.

Well Donald like all college courses there is a tuition to pay… :innocent: you can always return
for refund…

Somehow me thinks the SR Master might just put a silly ole grin on you maybe even ear to ear.

Somehow I think Clifton would agree.

How long until your new fuse arrives?

Only put in an order through the Cable Co. this morning. I have not received a confirmation yet. A week maybe?

Call them and ask for next day fedex or 2 day air…worth the extra $ to shorten wait time

They ship toward the afternoon so you may still have time to change shipping speed!!

Best wishes

Ha! I’m fine with a few extra days of waiting. My system sounds much better than last week already :grinning:

dchang05, who do you work with at the Cable Company? I used to work with Jason, but I don’t think he is there anymore.

Since you live in California, it will take a couple of days for delivery, since SR is located in Santa Ana, Ca.

If you think your system sounds good now, wait until you put in the Master, it’s like the M1 on steroids, the whole sonic picture will be more palpable. It is like the M1 with a tinge of Purple mixed in, you will have the best of both worlds. Your system will love it.
