Purple fuse upgrade

@karthick No current flow in direction of lettering. The DS has an internal fuse holder if used there you can see wiring from IEC inlet to fuse block so current flow is straight forward.

Fuse holder>SR pointing inward is current flow

Is this right for PS pre BHK?
@Vmax

If the following is true…why could/does it matter which way you position the fuse???

ā€œIn direct current (DC), the electric charge (current) only flows in one direction. Electric charge in alternating current (AC), on the other hand, changes direction periodically. The voltage in AC circuits also periodically reverses because the current changes direction.ā€

Sounds correct, though my RELs are S Serie. With aftermarket fuses I typically go with the next larger value. I’m not necessarily recommending it, that’s just me…

Flip it.

They have properties like a Diode is the theory I heard.

Today I compared the M-1 to the Purple, then to the Ultimate Premier. I also changed directions on the M-1. You are correct, it is a very slight duller with the double V’s of the W pointing outward, but very small difference. You can use it either way and still be very happy with the sound.

With the Purple compared with the Ultimate Premier, the UP has a slight haze surrounding the images, but is slightly sweeter and fuller. The Purple trounces it with more air and cleaner images.

The M-1 is a whole different ballgame! The Purple is a bit leaned out, flat and distorted sounding in comparison to the M-1. The M-1 just reveals more. The soundstage is so clear, and the music in the back stage just pops out at you more. The instruments sounds more complete with attacks, sustains, and decays much clearer. With the M-1 in the ballgame, I would not waste my time and money with the Purple, until the next better fuse comes along, The M-1 is the one to get.

I’m using Purples in this way into BHK Pre, PST and SPP

Can’t wait for the King M-1 and am pretty happy to avoid with it this directionality waste of time.

@Vmax you are awesome :sunglasses:
Flipping it makes huge difference… same purple fuse but very different spacial details

Thanks, Vmax…understand. When I got into this hobby many years ago, no one told me it was really about Sorcery. Winking smile

My guess is as follows. It’s nothing to do with current flow, as you say, it’s a/c. However, one end of the fuse is connected to live, the other end is connected to neutral via the piece of equipment being fused, each end being exposed to different emi / rfi frequencies. This would matter if the fuses are made non symmetrically.

That’s why you’re a Jedi now! Have confidence in the nonsense and eventually you find some of the snake oil actually works even if it seems it could be a farce.

May the force be with you! :loud_sound: now go play some John Williams music :notes:

Thanks for all the trials. Interesting the fuse direction is a slight difference seems we’re both hearing similar things now the ones that don’t can’t only just blame me.

So now the purple fuses are no longer good? The purple fuses cost me $137 each. The M-1 fuses are $300? The purple fuses sound pretty good to me. At least for now. They are a nice improvement over stock. The M-1 would be nice but $300 US is a lot of money.

I’m sure the purple are still good, apparently in some opinions ā€œnot as goodā€ I’ll be waiting to hear what you think about the M1. Lol

Purple fuses are still amazing…there may be a newer better
super amazing…but does not diminish the Purple’s qualities…
just that perhaps may have been bettered…

Best wishes

I love my hifi. I love lavishing it with new STUFF, cables, feetees, components, etc.
But the Purple fuse that I bought, meeting the exact specification for my P20, blew on start-up.
Since then, I look at the price of fuses and then consider the great bottle, or case of wine that could be had for the same money. And if the wine is corked, I get a new bottle or money back.
hmmm, wine/fuse/wine/fuse…

I have been making too many changes recently including a purple in our P20. I am going to take the purple out and return to stock until I get done with the round of changes I am making. I also had to swap out tubes in my Pre this past week. There was a very obvious loss of sparkle. After nearly a year of steady 2-chan and HT listening I wasn’t surprised.

Too many changes at once…bad, very bad. I have lost my way. THE WAY!

All those changes at once show your human and not AI…

Been there and feels like driving in the fog and having a grip
as to where you are…just that it will all turn out good…which
it has :grinning:

Best wishes Vince
