Maybe just coming to the conclusion that the room, power and the gear are more important than the tweaks. When those pieces are in harmony then the other things are just a side issue.
With a pair of better speakers I need to reevaluate the value of these fuses. It could be that when system gets better, the less impact these fuses would make. Maybe that is why Luca lost interest and Al didn’t care about fuses at all.
Either that, or FR30 is too new to me to hear the differences. Because M-2 sounded very similar to Master, and this was when M-2 had only four hours of break-in. I need to put stock fuse back to see if I will hear less difference. Any change will be two weeks later to give them proper break-in, and to give me time to learn the new and better sound.
You should have a trusted friend change the fuses - or not - and let you decide if there is anything to them or not.
I think you are correct in that the more true to form your system is the less that type of tweak is relevant or even noticeable.
I am enjoying purple fuses everywhere in my system. I definitely hear an improvement. I don’t know how much more I would get from a $600 fuse but it doesn’t matter. I am happy with my sound. There’s always bigger better faster but I am actually satisfied with my system as is and have been for quite some time.
I have Master fuses in my Nordost QB8 power distributor, Mk2 DAC and BHK pre to very good effect over the Purples in them previously. I have purple on everything else. My cabling is almost exclusively Synergistic Research perhaps implying some degree of system Synergy?
You will be having a fine weekend. Some friend BTW! Looking forward to your thoughts, and how your buddy is dealing with their Grimm withdrawal, or is it just separation anxiety.
I need to find audio friends that owns a Stealth Cloude G, or at least a Dream V18 near me. Instead, I only have some drinking friends and most of the time; they drink mine🙄
A place called Redwood Shores in the heart of Bay Area, California. Besides jamming freeways, bad air from summer fires, and potential earthquakes this place is wonderful.
